Directions: A Positive Experience is any past experience that you wanted to do because you:
1. Were
naturally interested in it
2. Desired
doing it
3. Did it fairly
well in your opinion
Positive Experiences give you a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment. They do not have to be earthshaking experiences but something meaningful to you. They may have occurred at any time during school, at work, when pursuing a hobby, and so on.
Here are examples of Positive Experiences:
Made clay sculptures in third grade;
started a real estate business;
visited elderly people;
job at XYZ company-assistant PR director.
Divide your life into two approximate halves: Time Period One and Time Period Two. Time Period One begins at age 5. Time period Two ends at the present. Therefore, a 30 year old would include experiences from ages 5 to 17 in Time Period One and experiences from ages 18 to 30 in Time Period Two. The 19-year old would include ages 5 to 12 in Time Periods One and ages 13 to 19 in Time Period Two. Using your present age, divide your life in a similar manner.
List at least FIVE but no more than SEVEN Positive Experiences for each Time Period. Also, try coming up with two or three Positive Experiences that occurred in the first half of your Time Periods One. In the above "30-year-old" example, the first half of Time Period One (ages 5 to 17) is ages 5 to ages 10 or 11. In the "19-year-old" example, the first half of Time Period One (ages 5 to 8 or 9).

Next, Circle your three earliest Positive Experiences in Time Period One
Now, review all your Positive Experiences and rank them in terms of fulfillment and satisfaction. This may be difficult to do but do the best you can. Decide which Positive Experiences is No. 1 (most satisfying). No. 2 (a little less satisfying), and so on. Beside each Positive Experience place the appropriate Number to indicate its ranking. If you listed Eleven positive Experiences they should be ranked from No. 1 through No. 11.
