Instructions
First, complete the Positive Experiences Listing, then either mail or fax it to HCI.
Second, in preparation for the Discovery Conversation (in person or by telephone), begin thinking about and/or listing some of your…
a. Interests and Concerns: What interests you? What kind of needs, problems, issues concern you? What is often on your heart as a deep-seated concern? As you do this, look at your whole life---work-related, volunteer work-related, hobbies-related, leisure time-related, etc., and not just one area of your life like work or hobbies.
b. Desires and Aspirations. If you could do what you really wanted, what would you do? Where is your heart? When you are alone…thinking, fantasizing, what kind of things do you see yourself doing? As you are thinking about these things, don't be overly influenced by what other people have said.
c. Knowledge Strengths. These are things you know fairly well. Look back over all your experiences---educational, work, volunteer, leisure activities, and so on. As you think about this, don't compare yourself with other people.
During the "Discovery Conversation", you will name or describe what you have thought about in the above three areas. This listing will not be written in "concrete." It changes as your attitudes, perspectives, and life situation changes. Also, as you personally continue learning and growing.
Some people prefer lumping together a. and b. above, rather than considering them separately. That's fine. Do whatever fits your style best.
